I believe that this class has brought me far. As we reach the end of the trimester, I realize that I have a come a long way from where I began. When I first came into the class I was confident that I knew what I had to know, but was looking for more on what I knew. However, as the class went on, I figured out that there was a whole new building of information I had been missing, and I had just been sitting in the lobby with what I knew so far. When we first got out the cameras, I felt comfortable with it, but liked the idea that there was more to learn about the great instrument. And when we began touching photoshop, I was thinking about how I'd used free online editors and generally had a good idea what was going on, but how Photoshop went much more in depth with the editing options then what any of the ones I had ever used had gone. Over the class, I have seen improvement in my work both in shooting and in editing as well. My first assignment was nature and I believe that it is good for semi-beginner work, but most recently was my Architecture Assignment and I can definitely see Some improvement in my shooting habits. Overall, this class has changed the way I view things in my daily life now and I am catching myself instead of thinking "Wow, that is amazing" I'm thinking "Where is my camera when I need it?". It definitely has opened my mind to the possibilities that photography and editing can offer, and I am grateful that I got to participate in this class.

For this assignment we were allowed to either find a photoshop tutorial online or do something called multiple me, in which we create a picture that has multiple of the same person in it in one way or another. I decided to do the Multiple Me portion of it. My original idea was about doing the four seasons and having myself in different outfits according to whichever season that version of me was in. However I didn't have my idea quite planned out completely when the time came so I decided with this "Angels & Demons On My Shoulder" idea and decided to go with this one. Lighting was a very important aspect in this because I had to make the pictures seem to match just enough so that the lighting made them look like they were in the same location. For this assignment, I really wanted to shoot night time photography. I have a bunch of beautiful locations around my hometown that are amazing with their lighting at night, such as this alley way and our main street. In shooting these photos however, I realized how desperately needed to use my tripod. Very few of my pictures turned out the way I wanted them to. Some were blurry and some I had to lighten up. Both of these were caused by long shutter speeds and had I relied on my tripod more, then I'm sure they would have turned out better. I think, perhaps, I'll revisit this in the future and get better results. Here we were assigned to shoot portraits of students, and put them side by side on a background in Photoshop. What we did was set up all the necessary lighting to shoot our portraits, and then after choosing our best results, we took them into photoshop and created the background for them to be displayed on. In working on this assignment, I learned about the importance of all the different lighting and how they affect the way your picture turns out. I've been wanting to shoot some of these subjects for quite some time but just now got around to it. I shot a barn near my work site, some of the neighboring houses that are encased in a beautiful scenery. Also included is a little lake hut by a petting zoo, a new modern house and a gorgeous older house. And just for fun I threw in a great sunset view that I captured. I played around with manual settings when shooting these and found out how important each of the settings is depending on the specific photo you're trying to make. For this shooting assignment I decided to shoot animal photography. I currently work at a job site for people who own horses, chickens, and I possibly other animals and I thought it would be really cool if I could shoot a couple pictures of them around the site. I also found . little insect who I decided to photograph as well. During shooting, I learned that you need to have a quick shutter speed seeing as animals have their own free will and like to move around a lot and you need to capture your image quickly. This week, our class was taught on the subject of panoramas, we were tasked with going around and shooting interesting locations for panoramic views, and then running the photos through Photoshop, and using the "Photomerge" tool to stitch multiple photos together in order to create the panoramas. Usually I shoot things free-hand, but this time around, I learned how important use of a tripod is when shooting this and other photo styles such as with long shutter speeds. Our class was recently introduced to a whole variety of new tools in Photoshop and we were challenged to take a picture of our school and put things in said picture to create a scene that we would not normally see. For mine I decided to take a picture of our bus loop and add on from there. I've been binge-watching a show called Supernatural recently and decided to use its main characters as the focus of my work. I changed colors and hues to make the lighting more apocalyptic and striking as added some little background demons in the sky on their way to cause trouble. We put these images together using layers and layer masks to make the objects look more natural and blended into the world. For this assignment I decided to capture "still life". What this is, is taking pictures of a subject, or subjects, and making it look the way you would see it in a professional advertisement or product shoot. The subjects I chose for this include an antique 1910 Union Leader Redi Cut tobacco tin, a vase of flowers (artificial), an assortment of graphic novels, and a few more things. During this shoot, I learned that the background of an image is just as important as the subject itself. for instance I couldn't find a plain white sheet to use for my background, so instead I sought out other things I could use and instead settled on some sheets of printer paper as the ground and a white wall and door as the vertical surface. Another thing I learned from this is the importance of light placement. It really makes a difference on a picture how dark the subjects shadow is and where it is placed. This weekend was a stay inside with a bowl of soup and a movie or a book weekend, so I decided to shoot some Macro Photography Images. I'd been working on a painting project so I thought it might be interesting to get a close up view of my work station with the paint brush and my make-shift palette, and get to see the individual bristles of the brush and even the grain of the paper it rested over. Alongside the brush, I also shot images of a 1943 steel penny, a Joseph Abboud Lapel Pin, a series of casings I've collected, and both my 325th GIR 82nd Airborne Wings and Coin. While shooting these subjects, I found it very helpful because I learned how best to use the macro setting on the camera.
